My Convention Challenge

Image
Hi All, Ok let's start off with some honesty (best policy). If you read my last weight related blog post you will know that I challenged myself to stay on plan for 50 days and lost a total of two stone. This challenge ended in March and since then I've been messing about non stop. I've been doing my own version of Cambridge Weight Plan which hasn't worked and gradually the pounds have been creeping on. As I am a consultant I find it hard to admit when I'm "failing" at something even though I know its not the plan that doesn't work, its me thinking that Subways and pizzas all the time are not going to add the weight on. So after that little confession lets talk about the next challenge. In November I am going to the CWP convention which is a Friday and a Saturday. Both days consist of an evening event, one fancy dress and one gala/ballgown themed.  Although I am nowhere near my starting weight, the way I feel now in myself I wouldn't go

June/July Favourites 2017

Image
3 months in and I failed to post my June Favourites so i'm posting both June and July together this month. TV: The Handmaid's Tale Source: Google I cannot explain how amazing this programme is. It's so interesting but also scary to think that this could happen in real life. I really want to read the book next so I may have to download the ebook. Praise be. Love Island Source: Google When Love Island started I made the vow to not watch it. I did well for 6 days but I went home to visit family and my sister made me watch one. I was HOOKED. My life was taken over. I used to come home from work and literally just sit and wait for 9pm. Then for an hour after it finished, I would sit on Twitter looking to see what people thought. I honestly don't think I got a decent nights sleep until the day after the whole thing finished. Youtuber: Brogan Tate Mainly July I have spent most evenings coming home from work and watching Brogan Tate's wee

Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

I don't know about you but has anyone noticed how quick a pot of shop bought hummus goes off? Or how many calories a tbsp of hummus is? Well recently, I have come to realise the answers to these questions and it's not something that is working for me. Both of these together link for me as I am watching my calories therefore cannot have too much of the pot however it seems to go off before I can space out my portions. I know, such a challenge. I decided to look at making my own. I found a really quick easy recipe on the BBC website  which looked easy enough to follow and didn't have too many ingredients I decided to mix the recipe up a bit and change some ingredients to make it my own. Ingredients: 200g tinned of chickpeas, drained 1 tbsp of light tahini Sprinkle of salt 4 grilled peppers from a jar 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp paprika 2 garlic cloves, crushed (I used frozen crushed garlic) 2 tbsp lemon juice, (I used the plastic Jif lemon juice but you can

Transitioning to a Plant-based Diet

Image
It is Time! Source: Google It has been nearly 10 years since I became a vegetarian. I read a book called Skinny Bitch and the next day I stopped eating meat. I've always thought that it was enough until I started watching vegans on YouTube and listened to stories about animal cruelty in the dairy industry.  For the last few years I have sort of ignored this information or put it to the back of my mind. I have always wanted to go vegan but then I'd find every excuse under the sun not to.  "My family wont understand, its not fair on my Nana for me to be so awkward" "It will be too hard, I love cheese too much" "It's too expensive to be vegan" Excuses that so many people have thought of or heard before. Source: Google Thankfully I watched a documentary called What The Health on Netflix which completely changed my opinion on dairy. I also joined lots of vegan Facebook groups and followed lots of vegan/plant-base

The Wild Olive

The Wild Olive  Italian Yummyness 2 weeks ago, I travelled back to the land of Cumbria as I had a few days off work. Although I didn't get to see everyone as my trip got cut short, I did get to visit one of the most delicious restaurants going.  THE WILD OLIVE Isn't it the cutest? This is such a hidden gem, I hadn't heard of it before we went but as soon as I heard the word pizza I was sold.   Instead of rambling about how gorgeous, delicious, yummyness the food was, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.. Menus:   I have to say we are definitely a '3 course family'. There is none of this "just a starter and a main' or 'main and dessert', it's always 3 courses and maybe 4 if the option is available. Starters: Mains Although there is a lot of amazing choices on the menus, there was no doubt in my mind that I was getting pizza. Most people can agree that pizza is lif

May Favourites 2017

May seems to have just come and gone doesn't it?!?! Here are some favourites: Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water: I've always loved the micellar cleaning water by Garnier and recently my skin has become quite dry (I blame weather and air-con). I went into Superdrug and this was on offer so I thought I'd give it a try. It doesn't take off my make up as easily as the other one but it definitely makes my skin a lot smoother and I have seen a big improvement. Oh K! Face Mask:  Thanks to my friend Sam (@sabrebeauty) I got to try this face mask this month. To be honest the texture was a little bit too "wet/slimy" for me BUT I noticed results instantly. My skin was really smooth and the next day 3 people asked me if I'd changed my foundation because my skin looked great. Happy days! The Body Shop Shower Gels/Creams: I managed to make all my Christmas body washes/shower gel last until May which I thought was quite impressi

How I've lost nearly 4 stone - my journey

Hey, So, when I started this blog, I wasn't going to talk about my weight loss as I have a twitter and instagram account for it however it is something that is a big part of my life especially this year so why not? In march 2016, I found myself at the biggest weight I'd ever been. After being involved in an incident a few years ago I had developed a habit of stuffing my face everytime something scared me or stressed me out. I had also got a new job which was sat behind a desk and then going straight home so there wasn't any exercise involved. In work we have a bar and it had become one of my best friends. It was far too easy to go and have a drink after work and that "friday" tradition had soon become a "Monday,  Tuesday and so on" tradition. I looked big, I felt big and I was so unhappy. I'd put on a brave face for work but inside I hated myself. Social events filled me with so much dread. I used to look at my friends and see how confident the
